Heartland Music Together classes are a wonderful way to have fun making music - with your child, with other children, and with other adults. If singing, dancing, playing, being creative (and sometimes just plain silly!) sounds like your idea of a good time, you might love being a Heartland Music Together teacher.
Successful Music Together® teachers have come from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to professional/amateur music and dance, drama and music theater, early childhood education, and music therapy. Some people have become Music Together teachers simply because they loved participating in class so much as parents.
In order to bring music to young children you need to have basic singing and rhythm skills, confidence in your singing, a sense of humor, creativity, a real enjoyment of young children, and openness to learning new ways of doing things. And, of course, a loving heart!
Heartland Music Together has been happily growing in Louisville since 2004, and additional teachers are needed to help share this wonderful experience with Louisville families. Training is required to become a registered Music Together teacher, as well as a co-teaching experience prior to leading class solo.
If you’re interested in teaching with us, send us an email with a cover letter that includes your experience with Heartland Music Together, and your resume attached.
**Before the training, applicants are required to submit a Basic Music Assessment. In this assessment, which is evaluated and approved by a Music Together Teacher Trainer, individuals record themselves singing, moving to, and leading two assigned songs in order to demonstrate that they can sing in tune and move in rhythm. Once approved, trainees proceed to the Teacher Training. We are providing this information to you so you're aware of what's required. Detailed instructions, including notation and/or recordings and starting pitches, are provided to the prospective teacher as part of the Teacher Training application process.
