Miriam Klein
"I was a shy, quiet child, so shy that in 2nd grade I stopped singing in front of people. I was afraid someone would tell me I was doing it wrong, and I already had a sense that music was too important to be criticized. I kept my music to myself well into adulthood. It was the birth of my own son that helped me reawaken my singing voice, as I taught myself lullabies to sing him to sleep.
In my musical journey I’ve repaired musical instruments, been a flute player, a cellist, a Suzuki cello teacher, and now a "sing-out-loud-in-public" Music Together teacher and director of Heartland Music Together. The most important thing I’ve learned in my amazing journey is this: Music is for everyone! Music is one of the ways in which all of us - babies, children, and grownups alike - get to enjoy being human beings.
I love teaching Music Together classes! I love the spontaneity of what happens in class, and I love seeing how the children grow and blossom over the course of each session. I see my teaching role as facilitating the joy of music-making for both young children and their adult caregivers. I will never tell anyone they're doing it wrong. Everyone can make music!"
In art, as in life, everything is possible, so long as it is based on love. - Marc Chagall |

in early childhood education. But what I hope to share most with you and your
child(ren) is a genuine love of music and the spiritual delight it evokes,
which is the natural birthright of every person." - Miss Karen
"Eliah still jumps literally for joy when he wakes up on Monday mornings and I tell him it's "music class" day.
Ms. Karen did a fabulous job of leading our class. She was fun, professional and silly with a beautiful voice (like we all have). Eliah and I really enjoyed her presence and enthusiasm." - Eliah's mom

Parents & children - the heart of our community
You may wonder if you can help your child musically, especially if you don't feel that you yourself are musical. Our experience has been that parents and other caregivers are the most essential influences in a young child's musical life. You don't have to be an expert to help your child develop a love for music! If you're having fun playing and making music, chances are your child will too. Enjoy this special time to explore music together. Your gift may last your child's whole life! |
